Missing Swimmer's Body Recovered From Water in Maryland

The body of a missing swimmer was found Sunday afternoon.

Manuel DeJesus Portillo Romero, 20, of Alexandria, Virginia, disappeared Saturday.

The St. Mary's County Sherriff's Office said he was last seen about 12:30 p.m. Saturday in the Patuxent River off of Myrtle Point Park in California, Maryland. His family was getting ready to leave the park but couldn't find him.

Rescue units from St. Mary, Charles and Calvert counties, the Coast Guard and the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Police searched for him Saturday and Sunday.

Romero's body was recovered from the water in the 24000 block of Half Pone Point Road in Hollywood after 4 p.m. Sunday.
