SUV Stolen From Movie Set Crashes, Bursts Into Flames in Downtown DC

A SUV stolen from a movie set was involved in a police pursuit before crashing and bursting into flames in downtown D.C. Thursday.

A GMC Yukon was stolen about 9:30 a.m. near Jefferson and 3rd streets NW, U.S. Park Police said.

The owner of the vehicle found to a U.S. Park Police K9 officer to report the theft. The officer then spotted the Yukon and began to pursue it.

Park Police called off the pursuit at 14th and I streets NW, but the stolen SUV crashed with another vehicle at 11th and H streets.

A man clearing out the stolen SUV after the crash confirmed the vehicle was being used on a movie set, NBC4's Nicole Jacobs confirmed. It was not immediately known what movie was being filmed.

The suspect has been apprehended and is facing assault and car theft charges, D.C. police said.
