Several virginia roadways are getting new route numbers.
Three local parkways have been upgraded from secondary routes to primary routes. With those upgrades come new route numbers.
The Prince William Parkway will change from Route 3000 to Route 294
The Fairfax County Parkway will change from Route 7100 to Route 286, and the Franconia-Springfield Parkway will change from Route 7900 to Route 289.
The upgrade also means all three roads will now be eligible for new funding and maintenance from the federal government.
