Rosie O'Donnell to Lead Protest Outside White House Before Trump's Address to Congress

Before President Donald Trump gives his first address to a joint session of Congress Tuesday night, Rosie O'Donnell will lead a protest outside the White House.

O'Donnell and a number of groups -- including the American Civil Liberties Union, MoveOn.org Civic Action, the Hip Hop Caucus and DailyKos -- are set to demonstrate in Lafayette Park from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Trump's speech is set to begin at 9 p.m.

The demonstration is called "A Resistance Address: Defending American Values in a Time of Moral Crisis."

"The Trump administration has gone to great lengths of dividing and not uniting citizens, creating an 'us' versus 'them' environment when speaking to all Americans. It is shameful, and dangerous," Hip Hop Caucus president and CEO Rev. Lennox Yearwood Jr. said in a statement.

Speakers at the event will include people who say they were directly affected by Trump’s first month in office, including members of the LGBTQ community, environmental groups and immigrants rights groups.

"We rally not only to resist, but to build a movement of millions working for social, environmental and economic justice,” Larry Cohen of Our Revolution said in a statement.

O'Donnell and Trump have had a long-standing feud.

During her tenure on “The View” the comedian and television personality was openly critical of Trump. He called her a “pig” during a Republican presidential primary debate. O’Donnell has tweeted openly against the Trump administration, and offered to play adviser Steve Bannon on “Saturday Night Live.”
