Rockville Lifts Mandatory Water Restrictions

Water restrictions are lifted so let's play in the sprinkler

Attention residents of Rockville: The water restrictions are over!

The city has lifted the mandatory water restrictions that were put in place Wednesday night after a second leak occurred in the water main. The repairing of a second leak on the water main is complete. The water treatment plant is back on line. And the testing of water samples is positive. complete.

"City crews worked around the clock to fix this second leak and restore service as quickly as possible," said Craig Simoneau, Department of Public Works director. "We can't thank residents enough for their conservation efforts and patience during these past few days."

The City asked residents to conserve water after a 24-inch water main pipe burst around 3:30 p.m. July 7. City crews repaired the water main with help from its contractors Mid-Atlantic Utilities and Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC). The pipe serves as the only water main connecting the City's water treatment plant and the distribution system. Rockville received supplemental water from WSSC. No Rockville water customers lost water service during the break or repair work.

The City's three water tanks are now filled to normal operating levels.
