Road Rage Incident Leads to Smashed Porsche, Arrest

An alleged road rage incident in Leesburg leads to a damaged truck, a Porsche driver who intentionally rammed his vehicle into another, and the arrest of a Waterford, Virginia, man Friday afternoon.

Police said they received reports of an ongoing road rage incident between two drivers on the Route 7 Bypass between West Market Street and South King Street. They said a truck driver saw the incident behind him and attempted to move out of the way by exiting onto the ramp leading to South King Street.

Investigators said one of the vehicles in the original road rage incident, a 2012 Porsche, took the same exit and struck the rear end of the truck. The driver of the Porsche, identified as David Ray Godfrey, 69, of Waterford, drove around the truck and began intentionally ramming the truck in the side multiple times.

Officers arrived on the scene and separated the parties. Godfrey was arrested and charged with attempted malicious wounding and released on a $5,000 bond.

There were no injured, and both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
