Road Closures For Chinese New Year Parade

Some streets around Chinatown will be closed for most of the day Sunday.

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) has provided the following information about road closures and parking restrictions that are planned for the Chinese New Year Parade and celebration will take place in the District of Columbia from approximately 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm on Sunday, January 29.

The parade itself will begin at 5th and I Streets and will follow I Street to 7th Street, NW. The parade will then head two blocks south on 7th Street to G Street, NW before turning west and proceeding to 9th Street, NW. The parade will then move a block north to H Street, NW before turning east to 6th Street, NW. The last leg of the parade will follow 6th Street, NW from Massachusetts Avenue to G Street, NW

The following streets were closed to allow parade assembly beginning Sunday at 11 am and should reopen by 3:30 pm.

I Street, NW – from 5th Street to 6th Street, NW

The following streets were closed at 9 a.m. Sunday for the accompanying festival and should reopen by 5 pm.

H Street, NW – from 6th Street to 7th Street, NW
