Reports of Shooting Near Southeast D.C. Education Center

Incident happened Monday morning

Police responded to the report of shots fired Monday morning near a southeast D.C. learning center.

Officers arrived shortly after 10:30 a.m. at the Patricia Harris Educational Center, at 4600 Livingston Road SE.

According to police, when officers arrived, they found a 26-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound. Investigators believe the victim was shot on the 300 block of Livingston Terrace, and went to the education center for help.

The man told staff inside the educational center he was shot in the side, and asked for medical assistance.

An ambulance was called and transported the man to a nearby hospital.

Authorities believe he was shot in a park 3 blocks away.  News4's Pat Collins reports that educational activities were not affected, however, the police investigation continues at the park.
