Report of a Gun at Local Schools: Police

Five individuals have been taken into custody by deputies

A person was reported pointing a gun at two local schools: A.G. Richardson Elementary School and Pearl Sample Elementary School on James Madison High way, deputies say.

The Culpeper County Sheriff's Office received the report just after 8 a.m. on Wednesday.

Deputies have all five individuals believed to be involved in the incidents in custody.

Authorities determined the weapon to be a pellet gun. No other individuals were in danger during this incident.

"At no time were any school children in danger," Sheriff Scott Jenkins said Wednesday morning. "We're in the process of speaking with the individuals involved and will release further information as it becomes available. We want to reassure parents that their children are safe at both schools."
