Reckless driving charges were filed Tuesday against a Virginia teen in a deadly skating accident.
John Malvar, 18, was skateboarding and holding onto the door of a car driven by his 17-year-old friend June 4 on Highland Street.
Malvar lost his balance, struck his head on the side of the road and later died at George Washington University Hospital.
The 17-year-old has been charged with reckless driving and appeared in Arlington County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court Tuesday.
The two were students at Washington-Lee High School.
Students held a vigil for Malvar shortly after his death, with dozens of skateboards on display at the podium.
