Rash of Robberies in Rehoboth Beach

Robbers target people alone at night

Police in a busy Delaware beach town are increasing their patrols after a rash of robberies.

There have been five attacks in the past few weeks at Rehoboth Beach, investigators said.

Now they’re telling people to stay alert.

The attackers are targeting people who are alone, police said.

The most recent incident happened Monday night. A group of young men hit a woman in the head, took her purse and ran away before she could get a good look at them, investigators said.

As police investigate these crimes, you can protect yourself by traveling in groups, especially if you’re out at night, detectives said.

Police also urge beach visitors to walk in well-lit areas and, if you see something suspicious, call 911 immediately.

Authorities are looking into even more cases in Delaware that could be related.
