Rain Won't Go Away, Causing Chain Bridge Delay

Bad news for commuters hoping to drive on a wide-open Chain Bridge during Monday morning's rush hour. Wet weather has delayed the opening of all lanes, and they may not open until mid-week.

DDOT removed concrete barriers from the Chain Bridge this weekend and resealed the deck, but the rain wouldn't allow crews to place new pavement markings on the bridge.

That means instead of opening all three lanes of the bridge, crews will place temporary barrels on the bridge for Monday morning and commuters will be limited to one lane in each direction.

DDOT hopes the weather will improve enough to re-stripe the lanes by mid-week.
