Several residents in Orange County, Virginia awoke Saturday morning to find their cars vandalized with swastikas and racial epithets, investigators say.
Eight cars along West Washington Street in the Virginia town just outside of Charlottesville on Saturday were found defaced with hateful messages in blue spray paint.
Orange County Police Department detectives are working to determine if the vandalism should be considered a hate crime.
News4 spoke to one victim who greeted police at his door Saturday afternoon after they discovered racial slurs and blue squiggly lines on two of his pick-up trucks.
It was an unusual occurance for the neighborhood, James Frazier, a longtime Orange resident, said.
"Everybody gets along," Frazier said.
Frazier was forced to foot the $1,000 deductible on repainting his cars, but said he wasn't mad about the situation.

Another resident who has lived in Orange for almost his entire life said he feels this is not normal behavior in the quiet neighborhood.
"I feel like it's probably more an individual issue that someone took to a larger level in an ignorant way," said Bo Clark, an Orange resident.
As the search for a suspect continues, police ask anyone who may have relevant information to contact them.
