Man Killed After Motorcycle Strikes Guardrail in Lanham

Prince George's County Police say a man was killed after he lost control of his motorcycle in Lanham, Maryland Tuesday night.

Officers were called to the intersection of Greenbelt Road and Goodluck Road just before 11 p.m. Tuesday.

Police say 56-year-old Robert Edward Bailey III was traveling westbound on Greenbelt Road when he failed to make a slight curve to the right and hit a curb. He lost control of the motorcycle and struck a guardrail.

Bailey died a short time later at a local hospital.

Initially, police believed racing played a role in the accident, but a spokeswoman with the department says the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit ruled that possibility out during the course of their investigation.
