Public's Help Sought to Solve Hanover Cold Case

Police are asking for the public's help in solving a cold case.

Russell D. Franklin, 27, was found dead in his car Aug. 14, 2004 by a deputy on routine patrol. Police say Franklin had died from a gunshot wound to the chest before the car ran off the road and hit a privacy fence in a parking lot.

Hanover County Sheriff's Office Lt. Chris R. Whitley said Wednesday two significant leads have been developed, along with other new information. Forensic evidence also is being re-evaluated.

In a news release, Whitley said investigators believe several people in the metro Richmond area could have information that would help to solve the case
