Protesters Demonstrate at Pepco Meeting

Demand end to planned rate hike

Protesters gathered outside Pepco's headquarters on Ninth Street today during a shareholder meeting.

Demonstrators want the company to withdraw its $42 million rate hike, scale back executive pay and pay what they call a fair tax share.

Inside the meeting, many of the shareholders were delivering those messages to Pepco management.

The protesters said Pepco refused to allow some shareholders into the meeting, but the company said it accommodated a record number of people, including everyone who had properly registered to attend the meeting.
