Prince George's Deputy Sheriff Charged With Second-Degree Rape

Inmate accused deputy of assault at county courthouse

A deputy sheriff in Prince George's County is accused of sexually assaulting a female inmate inside the county courthouse.

A 34-year-old inmate on Tuesday reported being assaulted while awaiting trial at the courthouse in Upper Marlboro, Md., police said.

Deputy Sheriff Lamar McIntyre admitted his involvement and was charged with second-degree rape, police said. Bond status is pending.

The sheriff’s office cooperated with police, arranging for McIntyre to be picked up when he arrived at work Wednesday morning.

McIntyre could not immediately be reached for comment Wednesday afternoon and it was not immediately clear whether he had a lawyer.

He will be suspended without pay, according to the sheriff’s office.
