President Works on His Game at Camp David

Obama impressed with what he saw at mountaintop retreat

ELKHART, Ind. -- President Barack Obama is giving the Camp David mountaintop retreat rave reviews after his first visit there. He foresees playing much basketball there in the future, Peter Baker reported for the New York Times.

Obama called the mountain hideaway in Maryland beautiful after his first visit there over the weekend with his wife, Michelle, and daughters Sasha and Malia.

"It was beautiful," he said. "The girls just had a great time. They had a lot of fun. You can see that during the summer it’s going to be a nice place to spend a lot of time. Hit a few golf balls. Played a little basketball."

Sasha brought a friend and a friend of the Obamas joined them with two children. Obama's personal aide and pickup ball running mate, Reggie Love, the Shaq to Obama's Kobe, also made the trip.

Obama told reporters that "the girls had a great time." He said the presidential getaway "is going to be a nice place" to relax -- away from the pressures of life at the White House.

Obama talked while flying from the nation's capital to give a speech in Elkhart, Ind.
