“Potholepalooza” Addresses Familiar Springtime Problem

WASHINGTON -- Ahead of the cherry blossoms, potholes are in bloom, so the D.C. Department of Transportation launched a month-long campaign to get rid of them.

"One of the ways we're measured is by taking care of the basics out here in the community, and potholes are one of the biggest issues for D.C. residents," Mayor Adrian Fenty said.

Potholepalooza means crews will try to respond to reports of potholes within 48 rather than the usual 72-hour response time.

Residents can monitor DDOT's work at their website

Report potholes by calling 311, using the online service request center, e-mailing potholepalooza@dc.gov, or sending a text message or tweet to www.twitter.com/DDOTDC.

The initiative runs through April 11.
