Post Ranks DC-Area Elementary Schools

WASHINGTON -- Using standardized assessment test scores, the Washington Post has ranked the top elementary schools in the D.C. area.
 
The paper ranks the top 25 elementary schools in northern Virginia based on results from the Virginia Standards of Learning exams, the top 25 elementary schools in Maryland's suburbs of D.C. based on Maryland School Assessment test results and the top 10 elementary schools in D.C. based on the D.C. Comprehensive Assessment System.
 
The schools were ranked by the percentage of students in the third, fourth and fifth grades who had advanced scores on the assessment tests.
 
Cold Spring Elementary School in Montgomery County ranked No. 1 in Maryland's suburbs of D.C. McKinley Elementary School came in first in northern Virginia. Janney Elementary was the best in D.C.
