Police: Silver Spring Teacher Inappropriately Touched Students

A Montgomery County Middle School teacher has been arrested for allegedly inappropriately touching three of his students.

According to Montgomery County Police, an administrator from A. Mario Loiederman Middle School in Silver Spring told detectives that two students at the school had been inappropriately touched by a teacher.

That teacher has been identified as 33-year-old Benjamin Cano. Officers met with the two alleged victims, each 11 years old, who confirmed they had been touched by Cano, their science teacher. They said a third student, a 12-year-old girl, was also touched inappropriately.

Further investigation proved Cano allegedly inappropriately touched all three girls between August 2012 and May 2013 during school hours. He has been on administrative leave since May 17, the day after police got involved.

Cano was arrested Wednesday on three charges of sexual abuse of a minor and three counts of committing a third degree sex offense.

Officials say other students may have fallen victim to similar behavior by Cano.
