Police Shoot, Kill Domestic Assault Suspect

Howard County police have released the name of a man who was shot and killed by a county officer.

Percy Holland, 32, of Baltimore, was shot Thursday evening outside a home in Columbia after he threatened to shoot officers who were trying to arrest him and refused to show his hands, police said. He died at a hospital.

Holland had been wanted in Baltimore for an assault on his girlfriend, police said. According to a warrant, he broke into the woman's home early Thursday morning and held a gun to her head. He later fled with the couple's 2-year-old child, who was with a relative at the time of the shooting, police said.

The officer who shot Holland, Sgt. Justin Baker, a patrol supervisor, is on routine administrative leave.
