Police Seize Gun Stash in Gaithersburg

Four weapons removed from home after man begins shooting

Montgomery County Police seized four guns from a home in Gaithersburg Sunday after a man began indiscriminately shooting in his neighborhood.

Police were called to Washington Grove Lane shortly before noon Sunday when a neighbor noticed the man firing a weapon.

Kenya Anderson told News4's Derrick Ward that she was walking up the street to the bus stop when she heard an initial shot. Then, she said, she heard multiple shots, as if they were coming from an automatic weapon.

"I was so scared," Anderson said, "I told my kids and my friend's kids to run in the house. All he had to do was turn and shoot me.

"He was smiling when he had the gun," Anderson continued, "like it was so exciting for him."

Authorities said that one of the guns confiscated from the house was an AK-47. According to Ward, the 38-year-old man, who has not been identified, told police that he fired the AK-47 into the air. Spokesman Paul Starks said that the man appeared to own all of the guns legally, and police do not know if any charges will be filed.
