Pedestrian Killed on Memorial Bridge; Witnesses Sought

A man has died after he was hit by a car and killed on the Arlington Memorial Bridge early Saturday, officials say.

The bridge between D.C. and Virginia was closed for more than three hours during the investigation.

The man who was hit was 47, a U.S. Park Police spokeswoman said. His identity was not released immediately.

Police were notified at 7:30 a.m. that the man was hit.

Information was not released immediately on exactly where the crash occurred or why.

The driver remained on the scene.
