Police Seek Connection Between Jewelry Store Robberies

D.C. police are trying to determine if the man seen in a security video of a June 9 jewelry store robbery in northwest Washington is connected to a murder at an Arlington jewelry store over the weekend.

Police say surveillance video of the Arlington robbery at Capital Jewelers on Columbia Pike shows it was committed by a person wearing a yellow traffic safety vest -- a possible cover, since many construction workers in the area wear the vests as they work.

Tommy Wong, 52, of Herndon, was killed in the robbery.

Video released from the June 9 robbery in Northwest also shows a gunman wearing a yellow safety vest. Arlington police interviewed the victim of that robbery Monday morning.
