Police Searching for Serial Hotel Robber in Woodbridge

Officers think string of crimes connected

WOODBRIDGE, Va. - The same man may be responsible for a string of hotel robberies in Prince William County.

Four hotels and two other Woodbridge businesses have been hit in the past month by a man pretending to be a customer. In each case, the man has approached the hotel clerk or cashier and asked if they can help him by giving him change for his money, police said. When they opened the register, he pulled out a knife and demanded money.

The most recent incidents occurred on Monday. The Chevron Gas station on Gideon Drive was robbed just before 7 p.m. Just after 7 p.m., the Holiday Inn Express, also on Gideon Drive, was robbed.

The Prince William County Police Department wants the public's help identifying the man responsible. He is described as a black man in his 40s standing  about 5-foot-9 with gray hair. He wore a dark blue jacket, blue jeans or pants, and a baseball hat.

Anyone with information about these robberies is asked to call Prince William County Crime Solvers at 703-670-3700 or 866-411-TIPS.
