Police Release Sketch of Capital Crescent Sex Assault Suspect

Assault took place Wednesday

The United States Park Police has released a sketch of the suspect in a sexual assault that took place on the Capital Crescent Trail earlier this week.

Investigators say that a woman was jogging along the trail north of Three Sisters Wednesday night when she was put into a choke hold from behind and briefly lost consciousness. When the victim awoke, she found her pants down and the suspect fondling her. The suspect fled on foot toward Fletcher's Boat House after the victim screamed.

The suspect is described as a black male standing between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing between 180 and 200 pounds. He is described as having a muscular or fit build, a light scruffy beard, and 3-4 inch-long dreadlocks. He was last seen wearing a white shirt and long jersey-type black shorts.

Anyone with information is asked to call U.S. Park Police at either (202) 610-7505 or (202) 610-8737.
