School Security Officer Had Sex With Teen Victim After Release From Jail, Court Records Say

A Montgomery County high school security officer has been re-arrested for allegedly having sex with a 17-year-old student he had been ordered to stay away from after an earlier arrest.

Mark Yantsos, 57, was arrested last month after the Montgomery County Police Department's special victims unit learned he had an "ongoing sexual relationship" with a female student at Richard Montgomery High School, where he worked, police said.

According to court records, after his release on a $75,000 bond, Yantsos had the victim at his home five days in a row between April 28 and May 2.

Prosecutors said they had sex during the last meeting, and Yantsos gave the victim $100 that day. Police re-arrested Yantsos Friday.

Police said the student told police that Yantsos befriended her last year and bought her gifts, including a cellphone that he used to text with her during and after school hours.

Yantsos, a Richard Montgomery High School security team leader, was charged last month with sexual abuse of a minor and fourth-degree sex offense involving the victim. There's no word on whether he will face additional charges.

"He's the head of security, so everyone expects him to be trustworthy and, like, everyone relies on him to be safe," Richard Montgomery senior Kiomi Hori said.

Yantsos has been placed on unpaid leave, school officials said.

Yantsos is undergoing a mental evaluation at a hospital, according to sources close to the case.

Yantsos' attorney, Donald Knepper, declined to comment.

"This guy was entrusted with our security, and he was the head of security, and to think he's capable of doing something like that is really horrific," Richard Montgomery senior Michelle Dubovitsky said.

"I strongly believe in the presumption of innocence before one is adjudicated as guilty, but I find this man's judgement to be very questionable at best," said Anna Belgorodsky, a Richard Montgomery parent.
