Police Name Suspect in Fatal D.C. Nightclub Stabbing

Police are looking for a 24-year-old Southeast D.C. man in connection with a fatal stabbing at a northeast Washington nightclub.

Police say Cimerron Kennedy stabbed 19-year-old Eric Jones inside Layla Lounge last month.

A Layla Lounge employee said he performed CPR on Jones and applied pressure to the wound until help arrived, but Jones died at a local hospital.

There's no word on what preceded the stabbing.

Police Chief Cathy Lanier ordered the club to close its doors for 96 hours while police investigate the homicide. She said security guards broke up a fight twice but didn't tell police even though two D.C. officers were there, working an approved overtime shift.

Kennedy is 5-feet-4-inches tall and weighs 130 pounds. He has black hair, brown eyes and a medium complexion.
