Mother Tied Up, Raped During Sunday Home Invasion

Woman's child present in apartment during the attack

A woman was tied up and raped during a scary early-morning home invasion in Manassas Sunday.

A knife wielding man broke into a home at 10500 Lariat Lane at about 5 a.m. and tied up a 19-year old man and a 20-year-old woman before sexually assaulting the woman while her child was present in the apartment, Prince William County police said.

"At this point we do not know how this person got into the apartment -- if they had a key, if the victim left the door unlocked," said Officer Erika Hernandez.

Police did not receive a call until more than two hours later at 7:25 a.m.

After arriving at the scene, police took the woman to an area hospital. They have not revealed the extent of her injuries.

The culprit is described as a Hispanic man in his early 20s standing approximately 5-feet-10-inches tall with a very thin build. He wore dark blue jeans, a black oxford shirt with pinstripes, a white belt, and black Converse sneakers.

During the home invasion, the culprit wore a black bandana over his face and a black hat, police said.
