Police have issued an arrest warrant for a second suspect accused of leading police on a deadly high-speed chase Monday.
Prince George's County Police officers Adrian Morris and Michael Risher were pursuing a silver Acura when their cruiser ran off Interstate 95 near the Powder Mill Road exit. Morris died after being ejected from the vehicle. Police said he was not wearing a seatbelt.
Wednesday's warrant was issued for Kevon Darnell Neal, 23, of the 3400 block of Gennene Lane in Fort Washington, Md. He is wanted for auto theft.
Neal was driving fast and cutting through traffic, forcing several cars to swerve out of the way, police said.
The new warrant comes a day after Neal's passenger, Kenneth Clark Mitchell, 25, of Northeast D.C., was arrested and charged with auto theft.
The silver Acura was found about 3 a.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of St. Louis Street S.E. in the District.
Prior to the chase, the officers were called to a Laurel gas station to investigate an attempted car break-in. Witnesses saw two people trying to open the doors of a customer's car at a Shell station on Sandy Spring Road.
It's not yet clear whether the auto theft charges stem from the attempted break-in, or whether the Acura or another vehicle was stolen. Police will speak at 1 p.m.
