Police Investigate H Street Robbery

Rainbow Clothing Store victimized by theft

Police in the District are looking for the person who robbed a clothing store in the H Street Corridor Saturday evening.

Investigators say that a man entered the Rainbow Clothing Store at 823 H Street, Northeast at approximately 8:15 p.m., brandished a gun, and demanded money from the store's cash register and safe.

When a store employee attempted to retrieve the money, the suspect hit him in the back of the head with his gun before taking an unknown amount of money and fleeing via the back door of the store. No injuries were reported, and the employee who was hit was not seriously hurt.

The suspect is described as having a light complexion and standing 5 feet, 4 inches tall and weighing about 140 pounds. He was last seen wearing a ski mask, a black and orange jacket, and blue jeans.
