4 Arrested for Bethesda Vehicle Burglaries

Additional charges are pending

Montgomery County Police arrested four suspects early Thursday morning in a series of thefts from vehicles south of River Road between Goldsboro Road and Little Falls Parkway in Bethesda, Md.

According to a press release, Keile Martin, 19, of Hyattsville; Tiara Groom, 20, of Bladensburg; and two 17-year-old juveniles from Silver Spring were arrested after police stopped their vehicle in a neighborhood off of Massachusetts Avenue.

During the traffic stop, police discovered property in the vehicle that had previously been reported stolen. All of the suspects were charged with one count of possession of burglar’s tools with intent to break and enter a motor vehicle. They have since been released on their own recognizance, but additional charges are pending.

The string of vehicle thefts began on June 1 and has involved 40 reported incidents involving 45 vehicles. While police believe the suspects are responsible for these break-ins, residents are urged to secure vehicles, garages and residences to prevent possible theft.
