Police: Alexandria Man Dead After Fight With Brother

This is the first homicide in Alexandria this year, according to police

An Alexandria, Virginia, man died Wednesday after a fight with his brother Sunday night, Alexandria police said.

Nelson Cruz, 28, was found unconscious Sunday in the 2200 block of North Beauregard Street after the fight, officials said.

Cruz died at the hospital Wednesday where he was under treatment for his injuries. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled Thursday the manner of death to be a homicide.

Cruz’s brother, 23-year-old Brian Cruz-Segovia, was arrested Sunday and charged with malicious wounding.

The Alexandria Police Department is investigating the incident and additional charges may be pending, officials said.

This is the first homicide in Alexandria this year, according to police.
