Plane From Mississippi Makes Unscheduled Landing in Virginia

A plane en route from Mississippi to Reagan National Airport made an unscheduled stop in Charlottesville, Virginia.

American Airlines spokesman Ross Feinstein writes in an email that an American Eagle plane that departed from Jackson, Mississippi, on Monday morning was diverted "due to a possible mechanical issue."

He didn't say what was wrong with the plane. No one was hurt.

Feinstein says the plane flew on to Reagan National about three hours later after maintenance personnel addressed the problem.

WVIR-TV reports the plane was carrying more than 40 people. They got off while maintenance crew members worked.

Fire and rescue crews at the Charlottesville airport had been prepared for an emergency landing.
