Pizza Delivery Driver Robbed on University of Maryland Campus

A suspect has been arrested in the armed robbery of a pizza delivery driver on the University of Maryland campus.

Justin Jamal Lewis, 24, of Johnsonville, S.C., was arrested and charged with armed robbery, robbery, firearm in use in a felony, and first- and second-degree assault.

Campus police officers were called to a student apartment complex on Boteler Lane around 10:40 p.m. Monday after receiving a report about the robbery.

The victim, who is not affiliated with the university, told police he was approached by a man who showed him a gun and demanded his property.

The victim complied, and was not harmed. The robber was last seen running from the area towards Metzerott Road.

An emergency alert was sent across campus after the robbery.

Police announced the arrest of Lewis on Tuesday afternoon.

The University of Maryland Police Department is investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 301-405-3555.
