Pittsburgh Steelers Tight End Arrested in Old Town

Dekker allegedly subdued by pepper spray

The day after his teammates play Arizona in the Superbowl, Pittsburgh Steeler Jonathan Dekker will stand in a different court -- the courthouse in Alexandria, Va.

Dekker, who has been charged with obstruction of justice, was arrested early Saturday morning after police responded to a complaint near Old Town Alexandria.  When they arrived, police said Dekker tried to flee, but was apprehended.  He was then taken to jail.

Sources tell NBC4 that Dekker had to be subdued by pepper spray.

Dekker posted $1,000 cash bond and was released Saturday.

Police have not revealed the nature of the complaint or where it originated from.

The 6-foot-5, 250-pound Dekker played three games for the Steelers in 2007. He was signed by the team in 2006 as a free agent.

Dekker, an injured reserve, was not expected to play at the Superbowl.
