There is a petition to reunite a Montgomery County police officer with his best friend, Chip, a K-9 officer he worked with.
In September, Gil Fones followed orders to return Chip, even though the pair worked together for four years. The department won't tell Fones where the dog is located.
In a September report, News4’s Shomari Stone talked to two retired K-9 officers, whose names are on the Change.org petition. There are over 217,000 signatures, asking the department to return Chip to Fones.
The department told Stone in September that Chip was given to a K-9 rescue organization but has not named the group.
