Petition Seeks to Honor Heroic Boy Who Saved Sister

A White House online petition to honor an 8-year-old boy hopes to recognize the heroism that cost him his life.

Marty Cobb was killed while defending his 12-year-old sister from a suspect who was attempting to sexually assault her. The suspect struck the boy in the head with a brick and he died.

The petition is asking the Obama administration to “recognize and award, posthumously” the young boy for his actions. Hundreds turned out for a vigil Saturday night in Richmond, Va.

The suspect is a 16-year-old and is not being named by police at this time.

You can electronically sign the petition at whitehouse.gov.
