Traffic and politics are two things that D.C. knows quite well. But a different sort of politics will be affecting traffic around the area this weekend.

George Mason High School and Mary Ellen Henderson Middle School, both on Leesburg Pike, are being rented from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. for the election. The influx of people is expected to be so large because they are the only polling sites between Kentucky and Maine.
Fairfax County Police and the Falls Church City Police, with assistance from the Virginia Department of Transportation and Metropolitan Transit Authority, are coordinating plans for keeping traffic moving, including having extra personnel on site.
Those visiting the polling places are encouraged to use public transit, or park in the West Falls Church Metro station parking garage, instead of the neighborhoods.
Officers will patrol the areas and respond to complaints of illegal or unsafe parking.
