Prince William County police say the person struck near a Bristow elementary school Thursday morning has died.

Girma Genemo, 64, of Gainesville, was struck by a northbound 2009 Cadillac CTS while crossing Linton Hall Road near Piney Branch Elementary School about 6:30 a.m.

Some buses traveling to the school were diverted after police closed roads in the area.

The driver, a 39-year-old man from Manassas, stayed at the scene. Alcohol, drugs and speed do not appear to be factors, and no charges are pending at this time.
