People Line Up for Free Chick-fil-A Despite Cold

Washington, D.C. is in a deep freeze, but that didn't stop some people from camping out for a chance to win free chicken for a year.

Dozens of people bundled up and broke out their sleeping bags just to be among the first in line at the new Chick-fil-A location in Dumfries, Virginia. The first 100 people in line Thursday morning were given a card pre-loaded with 52 free Chick-fil-A meals -- that's one meal a week.

Temperatures touched the single digits as the contestants waited for the doors of the restaurant to open.

"There were points that I couldn't feel my feet, and you had to go inside," said Jacob Gray.

The restaurant handed out tickets that allowed waiting customer to come inside and warm up for a few minutes.

"If you posted a picture online, they gave you a little coupon that allowed you to stay there for 15 minutes. I posted three pictures, so I went in for 45 minutes," said one camper named Tony.

But Tony says the wait is worth it.

"Of course, my buddy and I are splitting it down the middle; that's 26 meals a piece. I mean, it takes a long time to eat 52 meals at Chick-fil-A."
