Pay-by-Cell Mobile App Launches in Arlington

Pay-by-cell mobile app is coming to Arlington parking meters in late-July

If you're a frequent driver in Arlington County, you soon won't need to worry about saving up coins for parking -- you'll be able to pay the meters with just a tap of your cell phone.

The pay-by-cell mobile app, which you may recognize from parking meters in D.C., is coming to all the metered spaces in Arlington, the county announced Tuesday.

Starting in late July, Parkmobile will be rolled out in phases across Arlington County. Residents in Shirlington and Crystal City can expect to see it first; the service will then expand to Pentagon City in the fall followed by Ballston and Clarendon in the winter. Parkmobile will launch in the remaining areas by spring 2015.

The Parkmobile product is available for many smartphones, so whether you have an iPhone, Android, Windows 7 or Blackberry, you can download the app.

When you start seeing Parkmobile meters popping up, be sure to register online so you can pay for parking using the cell phone app, the Parkmobile website or by calling a toll-free number.
