Pat Herrity's Open-Heart Surgery Goes Smoothly

He'll likely be in ICU for two days

Fairfax County Supervisor Pat Herrity is recovering from open-heart surgery at Fairfax Inova Heart and Vascular Institute, according to a press release.

Herrity, 52, represents the Springfield district. He underwent open heart surgery Thursday morning at 7 a.m, according to the statement released by his Communications Director and Legislative Aide John Nolan.

Surgeons told Herrity's family that the surgery went as expected. He is recovering in the Intensive care unit where he is expected to stay for the next day or two.  The statement goes on to say that he will be out of the hospital in four to six days. The doctors who treated him say it will take four to six weeks for a full recovery.

Nolan said there will be updates on Herrity's condition provided via email, Twitter, and Facebook for anyone interested in his recovery.
