Partial Building Collapse in Northeast D.C.

Part of the front and roof of a vacant apartment building in northeast D.C. collapsed into the roadway Tuesday afternoon.

Units arrived at the two-story building at 4925 Nannie Helen Burroughs Ave. NE about 2 p.m.

The apartment building is next to the Henry Washington Funeral Home, which was evacuated.

The building was struck by a vehicle last week. It’s unknown whether that crash was related to Tuesday’s collapse.

The apartment building was condemned, and the road in front of the collapsed building was closed in case of further collapse.
