Parkway Closed as Police Investigate Murder

Police first got call about suspicious vehicle in neighborhood

A man was found dead along Riverside Parkway near Rocky Creek Drive in Lansdowne, Va., Sunday.

The Loudoun Sheriff's Office has told residents to avoid driving on Riverside Parkway in both directions, between Coton Reserve and Kingsport Drive, while they investigate the murder scene.

Police first got a call for a suspicious vehicle in the high-end residential neighborhood early Sunday morning.  But when they got there, there was no car to be found.

Instead, they found a man who was dead.  The man was wearing a black and grey jogging outfit and appeared to be between 55 and 75 years old, according to police.

A younger woman was also found on the road, a short distance away from the man, with serious injuries.  She was taken to the hospital.

Both victims were found just off the roadway at 5:30 a.m. Sunday, police said.

Anyone who saw anything suspicious overnight in this area, or who might know the identity of the victims, is asked to immediately contact the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office at 703-777-1919, or 1-877-777-1931.
