Panel Tackles Efforts to Repeal Ultrasound Measure

The most explosive issue from last year's Virginia General Assembly is expected to make a brief encore before a Senate committee.

The Senate Education and Health Committee takes up Democratic efforts to repeal the controversial 2012 pre-abortion ultrasound exam mandate. It's got little chance surviving a committee dominated by Republicans.

The panel also takes up a measure to repeal another anti-abortion measure that holds abortion clinics to the same architectural design standards as new hospitals.

The ultrasound measure last year drew angry protesters to Capitol Square and withering ridicule from television comedy shows for legislative Republicans.
