Over 600 Teachers Get Ready for Class in Pr. George's

More than 600 new teachers will spend the next three days getting ready to step into Prince George's County classrooms.

The county began its new teacher orientation at Wise High School in Upper Marlboro Monday. The program is meant to help incoming educators transition into the classroom while teaching them how the school system works.

Training at the orientation will also focus on effective teaching and learning practices.

Master teachers also ask first-time teachers to consider who they are and how they want to be seen in their own classrooms.

The new teachers have about two weeks to get ready for their students -- school starts Aug. 19.
