Man Found Shot at Frederick County, Md., House Fire

Deputies in Frederick County, Md., say the man who shot himself and set his Middletown home on fire has died.

The Frederick County Sheriff's Office was called to the home in the 8800 block of Pete Wiles Road just before 5 a.m. Wednesday morning for a report of a shooting. Authorities say the male victim was found at the scene, suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.

The two-story home was also on fire and suffered significant damage.

Maryland State Police airlifted the victim to Baltimore Shock Trauma, where he died Wednesday evening.

Police say the man's divorce was finalized Tuesday, News4 Darcy Spencer reported. Investigators also found gasoline cans inside the home, further indicting that the deceased set the fire himself.
