One person died after a motorcycle crashed overnight on the Outer Loop of the Beltway near Colesville Road.
The incident happened just after midnight. Police said Kevin Bernard Hinnant Jr., of Laurel, Md., lost control of the motorcycle and crashed into a guard rail. He was transported to an area hospital, where he later died.
The Outer Loop was shut down for about three hours during the investigation. There was no immediate word on what caused the crash, but witnesses told police that Hinnant Jr. was traveling at a high rate of speed.
